Restoration Category: Research

Injured Resources Addressed: Pink Salmon

Abstract: Elevated embryo mortalities were detected in populations of pink salmon inhabiting oiled streams following the oil spill. The purpose of this project is to continue to monitor the recovery of pink salmon embryos in the field, provide laboratory verification of the field results, and verify and identify the occurrence of genetic damages. Results of these studies may provide the first evidence of heritable injury in fish exposed to chronic or acute sources of oil pollution.
