Abstract: This project addresses concerns that octopus and chiton have been depleted by EVOS and that subsistence uses are impaired. In this proposal, close-out costs are requested for FY 97, the third year of the project. The first year (FY 95) was to establish the feasibility of working with octopus in Prince William Sound, identify suitable study sites, and evaluate techniques. The second year (FY 96) is focusing on the factors in nearshore habitats that are important to octopus, and on the turnover rates of octopus in those habitats.
