Abstract: Past studies have documented damage from oil exposure in adult herring, hatching success of embryos, and levels of physical and genetic abnormalities in larvae. The PWS herring spawning population has drastically declined since 1993, and pathology studies implicated Viral Hemorrhagic Septicemia (VHS) and Ichthyophonus as potential sources of mortality as well as indicators of stress. The project will continue to provide estimates of spawning herring abundance and investigate the lethality of suspected pathogens and the role of environmental contaminants in disease transmission through laboratory and field studies.Proposal: Not Available
