Abstract: This project will provide for the replacement of subsistence resources damaged by the EVOS. Due to their close proximity to the proposed release site, the residents of the Chenega village and local commercial and sports fishermen will be the principal beneficiaries. As an annual project, 50,000 chinook smolt will be taken from the Wally Noerenberg Hatchery and transported via barge and fry/smolt transport tanker to Crab Bay for rearing. While rearing, Prince William Sound Aquaculture Corporation personnel will train residents of Chenega village to feed the chinook smolts. After rearing in net pens at Crab Bay, the smolt will be released into the marine environment. The net pens will be disassembled and stored at the Armin F. Koernig Hatchery near the Chenega village. Approximately 2,000 adult chinook salmon are expected to return in 1998.Proposal: Not Available
