Abstract: Subtidal sediments were found to be contaminated by petroleum hydrocarbons at five locations in the Gulf of Alaska (GOA) following the EVOS. Recovery rates of subtidal marine sediments contaminated by petroleum hydrocarbons at the latitude of the GOA are poorly known. This study will provide the first assessment of the contamination of subtidal sediments since 1990. The purpose of this project will be to determine the amount of oil, if any, that remains in the subtidal sediments at the locations formerly contaminated by petroleum hydrocarbons in GOA. The concentration of petroleum hydrocarbons remaining in sediments at the GOA locations will be compared with concentrations at comparable locations in Prince William Sound.Proposal: Not Available
