Abstract: There is much data already collected under EVOS funding on herring that needs to be analyzed. There are many components to herring research that need to be synthesized. This project will evaluate all aspects of past research including, but not limited to stock structure, year-class strength, and disease structure. A workshop of herring researchers will be conducted to discuss ideas for additional herring research and monitoring. The results of the workshop and writings will be analyzed to identify important questions that remain about herring and to decide which ones can and cannot be addressed. Recommendations will be developed for priorities and research direction for herring in the future, which may serve as a basis for a science plan for herring.Proposal: Not Available
