Abstract: The Prince William Sound (PWS) pigeon guillemot population has been in decline since the 1970’s, but was heavily impacted by the EVOS. Data from previous studies demonstrates an ongoing decline in the breeding population. Latent effects from the spill may yet be impacting the population because guillemots do not breed until they are three or four years old. Egg and chick predation is a potential factor influencing guillemot reproductive success. A multi-year study at several colonies will be conducted to determine if productivity is limited by food, predation, or oiling. In the first year, diet, foraging behavior, predation rates, egg oiling, and reproductive success will be compared among colonies in different areas of PWS. Relative forage fish abundance will be compared to reproductive parameters.Proposal: Not Available
