Abstract: This project will design and produce a draft GEM community involvement and community-based monitoring plan to address the needs of diverse communities in the region. This initiative will be informed by (a) a case history review of working models of community-based monitoring efforts relevant to the GEM conceptual foundation, (b) a regional capacity assessment to identify potential partnerships, (c) issues and indicators as identified by Chugach Regional Resource Commission's Tribal Natural Resource Planning Process and other community planning processes. Recommendations will include identifying new approaches to melding Western science and local and traditional knowledge and pilot community-based monitoring projects.Proposal: View (168 KB)
