Significance of Whale Predation Quarterly Tasks

2008 Quarterly Project Tasks:

1st Quarter Tasks (October 1, 2007 - December 31, 2007)
Status: Complete

Tasks to be performed:

Attend AMSS meeting. PWS and Sitka: Small boat surveys in Sitka Sound. Complete surveys and sample analysis. Begin model development. Lynn Canal: Complete surveys and sample analysis. Assemble mark-recapture data.

Progress report:

Attended marine symposium. Completed surveys. Started analysis.

2nd Quarter Tasks (January 1, 2008 - March 31, 2008)
Status: Complete

Tasks to be performed:

PWS and Sitka: Small boat surveys in Sitka Sound. Complete modeling. Lynn Canal.: Conduct mark-recapture analysis. Compare whale population estimates with whale consumption estimates.

Progress report:

Completed surveys. Continue analysis.

3rd Quarter Tasks (April 1, 2008 - June 30, 2008)
Status: Complete

Tasks to be performed:

Complete reports and manuscript. Submit publications.

Progress report:

Initial analysis completed. Manuscript Publication writing began.

4th Quarter Tasks (July 1, 2008 - September 30, 2008)
Status: Incomplete

Tasks to be performed:

None listed.

Progress report:

Based on intial positive results, PI's will be submitting ameded proposal to add a second year of field work to confirm results and refine parameter estimates (est. variance). As initially envisioned the project concept (first submitted under 070804) was to have two years of PWS field data, however late start prevent the collection of data in PWS that year.
