Progress report:

Field collections completed samples collected for laboratory work completed. Began labortory work for age 0 samples. Encountered set-up and logistic delays in working with older (age 1 and age 2+ ) in the lab. Decided to focus on age 0 samples for the time being as a higher priority.

3rd Quarter Tasks (April 1, 2008 - June 30, 2008)
Status: Complete

Tasks to be performed:

April-May Field Component: Sample collection at all 3 study sites, adult herring only April Laboratory Component: 3rd laboratory measurements on spawners (Age 2+) June Field Component: Proximate analysis and bomb calorimetry of voucher specimens

Progress report:

Field sampling completed Laboratory work completed on age 0 samples. Initial results promising however some issues with disease infection had to be addressed. The problems appeared to be ironed out but given the importance of age 0 as a critical life stage, decided that replicating the age 0 trials would be important at this time before taking the effort to re-plumb the laboratory to handle the older ages. That effort maybe proposed for FY09 if results from the replicate trials in this next quarter appear encouraging. This midcourse adjustment on objectives will not impact the budget.

4th Quarter Tasks (July 1, 2008 - September 30, 2008)
Status: Complete

Tasks to be performed:

July-August Field Component: Proximate analysis and bomb calorimetry of voucher specimens September Field Component: Statistical summary & analysis Conducted Replicate age 0 trials Complete annual report

Progress report:
