Alaska Coastal Current Monitoring Quarterly Tasks

2008 Quarterly Project Tasks:

1st Quarter Tasks (October 1, 2007 - December 31, 2007)
Status: Complete

Tasks to be performed:

Monthly CTD surveys; begin acquiring, archiving, and processing Middleton Island and Prince William Sound buoy data

Progress report:

1. completed the monthly CTD sampling (Oct-Dec). 2. updated and processed these data. 3. presented preliminary results on the project, and in particular, discussed the unusual cooling that took place last winter in the Gulf of Alaska at the Fall Herring Restoration Meeting at the EVOSTC office. 4. continued these analyses and presented a poster on the 2006-07 cooling at the 2008 Alaska Marine Science Symposium. 5. and with additional analyses will be presenting these results at the March 2008 Ocean Sciences Meeting in Orland Florida.

2nd Quarter Tasks (January 1, 2008 - March 31, 2008)
Status: Complete

Tasks to be performed:

Attend Alaska Marine Science Symposium. Monthly CTD surveys, recover and re-deploy GAK 1 mooring. Conduct post-calibrations of instruments.

Progress report:

All tasks were completed as scheduled.

3rd Quarter Tasks (April 1, 2008 - June 30, 2008)
Status: Complete

Tasks to be performed:

Monthly CTD surveys. Complete post-calibration on mooring instruments, process mooring and CTD data.

Progress report:

All tasks were completed as scheduled.

4th Quarter Tasks (July 1, 2008 - September 30, 2008)
Status: Complete

Tasks to be performed:

Monthly CTD surveys, update heat fluxes. Submit annual report.

Progress report:

All tasks were completed as scheduled.
