Status of Subsistence Uses Quarterly Tasks

2004 Quarterly Project Tasks:

1st Quarter Tasks (October 1, 2003 - December 31, 2003)
Status: Complete

Tasks to be performed:

Mid-October 2003 EVOS TC approval and notification Obtain tribal resolutions November 18 & 19, 2003 Project Planning Workshop, Anchorage December 15 Finalize survey instrument

Progress report:

Update from Project Manager: 1st quarter tasks from the original DPD were not meet due to the delay in the TC Work Plan approval. A revised timeline, provdied below, were approved by the TC staff. TC funding secured and coop agreements in place. FY04, 1st Quarter (October 1, 2003-December 31, 2003) November 10, 2003 - EVOS TC approval and notification December 2003 - Draft cooperative agreements with project partners

2nd Quarter Tasks (January 1, 2004 - March 31, 2004)
Status: Complete

Tasks to be performed:

March 2004 Identify local researchers to be trained for data entry Train local researchers for data entry, Anchorage. Begin data entry and review Approved Revised Schedule: February 9 to March 31, 2004 - Fieldwork March 2004 - Identify local researchers to be trained for data entry

Progress report:

Update from Project Manager: All of the Second Quarter tasks except for the winter surveys were completed by April 6. Weather delayed completion of the winter survey. Except for 3 transects on Hinchinbrook Island they completed the winter survey on April 5. The remaining 3 transects on Hinchinbrook were surveyed on April 15. Most of the objectives for data collection were accomplished. 2 transects on Montague Island were added and repeat surveys were conducted. Other repeat surveys were planned, but poor weather and insufficient time precluded them.

3rd Quarter Tasks (April 1, 2004 - June 30, 2004)
Status: Complete

Tasks to be performed:

April, May, and June Complete data entry and review. Begin data analysis Submit data inventory to EVOS TC Data Systems Manager. Revised Schedule: April 2004 - Train local researchers for data entry, Anchorage April, May, and June - Complete data entry and review, Begin data analysis, Submit data inventory to EVOS TC Data Systems Manager.

Progress report:

Update from Project Manager: Third Quarter tasks are in progress or have been completed. The databases have been updated with 2004 survey information, as have the tables in the reports. All flock locations are in GIS format and new transects have been added to the exisiting maps. Boats and motors have been serviced and maintained.

4th Quarter Tasks (July 1, 2004 - September 30, 2004)
Status: Complete

Tasks to be performed:

July & August 2004 Complete data analysis September 1, 2004 Submit annual report September 28 and 29, 2004 Data Review Workshop, Anchorage Revised Schedule: April 2004 Train local researchers for data entry, Anchorage April, May, and June Complete data entry and review. Begin data analysis Submit data inventory to EVOS TC Data Systems Manager.

Progress report:

Update from Project Manager: Data analysis is still underway. The annual report ws submitted and accepted and the data review workshop was held on October 12 and 13. Project is still on target for a draft final report in December and presentation of preliminary findings during the annual workshop in January. Annual report submitted and on web.
