Project Year and Number: 1996: 96142
Principal Investigator (PI): Bob Day, ABR, Inc., Environmental Research and Services

Research Location: Prince William Sound
Restoration Category: Research
Abstract: This project would investigate the status and ecology of Kittlitz's Murrelet, a rare seabird breeding in glaciated fjords of Prince William Sound. The study will evaluate the abundance, distribution, and productivity of this little known seabird and assess its habitat use and feeding habits in northwestern PWS. Given uncertainty about the effects of the oil spill on this species, a better understanding of its status and ecology is required to ensure its long-term conservation.
