2005 Quarterly Project Tasks:

1st Quarter Tasks (October 1, 2004 - December 31, 2004)
Status: Complete

Tasks to be performed:

October: Project funding approved by Trustee Council. Interagency coordination. Plan logistics and personnel for winter surveys. Contract for vessel support.

Progress report:

Update from Project Manager (2/10/05): First quarter objectives were met. During this period PI recruited personnel for the March 2005 surveys and prepared bids for vessel support. He also contacted the USFWS and Simon Fraser Univ./USGS who will be conducting simultaneous fieldwork in Prince William Sound. In addition the process of organizing and inspecting field equipment and identifying maintenance needs has begun.

2nd Quarter Tasks (January 1, 2005 - March 31, 2005)
Status: Complete

Tasks to be performed:

January 12-16 (tentative): Annual GEM Workshop. Hire seasonal technicians. Prepare field equipment. Finalize field logistics. Conduct winter surveys in PWS.

Progress report:

Second quarter objectives were met. PI attended the Marine Science Conference in Anchorage and presented a poster on his Prince William Sound survey results. Field equipment was prepared, logistics finalized and winter surveys were completed April 10. NOTE: PI finished negotiations for additional statistical support with ADF&G Region II and will be using Aaron Christ for data analysis. Mr. Christ accompanied PIs on winter surveys to gain first hand knowledge of the methodology.

3rd Quarter Tasks (April 1, 2005 - June 30, 2005)
Status: Complete

Tasks to be performed:

Create databases, GIS. Analyze field data and begin report preparation. Maintain equipment.

Progress report:

Third quarter objectives have been met.

4th Quarter Tasks (July 1, 2005 - September 30, 2005)
Status: Incomplete

Tasks to be performed:

Finish analyses and final report/manuscripts submitted to Trustee Council Office.

Progress report:

Report preparation is ongoing with an anticipated submission prior to years' end.
