1st Quarter Tasks (October 1, 2008 - December 31, 2008)
Status: Complete

Tasks to be performed:

Submit manuscript describing the combined effects of temperature and Ichthyophonus on swimming performance

Progress report:

Completed.

2nd Quarter Tasks (January 1, 2009 - March 31, 2009)
Status: Complete

Tasks to be performed:

Present findings at Alaska Marine Science Symposium Collect herring eggs for continued rearing of SPF herring Collect wild adult herring for infection and diseases surveys Submit manuscript describing the kinetics of viral shedding after exposure of herring to VHSV

Progress report:

All items were completed.

3rd Quarter Tasks (April 1, 2009 - June 30, 2009)
Status: Complete

Tasks to be performed:

Complete laboratory diagnostics on samples from wild herring surveys. Submit manuscript describing the effects of stock origin on the susceptibility of Pacific herring to VHS

Progress report:

Laboratory diagnositcs were completed. Manuscript was submitted.

4th Quarter Tasks (July 1, 2009 - September 30, 2009)
Status: Complete

Tasks to be performed:

Metamorphosis of lab-reared SPF herring from larvae to juveniles. Submit manuscript describing genetic differences in Ichthyophonos types from different hosts.

Progress report:

Manuscript submitted, in review: Rasmussen, C, M.K. Purcell, J.L. Gregg, S.E. LaPatra, J.R. Winton, P.K. Hershberger. In Review. Sequencing of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions indicate genetic heterogeneity between freshwater and marine Ichthyophonus Sp. Isolates. Diseases of Aquatic Organisms.
