Abstract: The archaeological site stewardship program provides training and coordination for a cadre of volunteers to monitor vandalized sites in the oil spill area that are beyond the ability of agency monitoring. Volunteer site stewards are protecting damaged sites on the Kenai Peninsula, Kachemak Bay, Uganik Bay, Uyak Bay and the Chignik area of the Alaska Peninsula. Further protection will come from increased local awareness of harm from site vandalism.
